We praise God for helpers who have taken some of the load off our weary shoulders. At the same time, we seem to be busier than ever preparing the Manna for Children Read-and-Color books. Requests for books and funds to print the little books in time for Christmas arrive in the mail almost every day.
Our web site is playing a larger role in this. Recently missionaries in Addis Ababa wrote:
"Our internet connection is very iffy, but this morning - Sunday -I had a good connection and was able to access the Manna Publications website and download the five Read-and-Color books. I will attempt to print them in the next few days and then show them to the teachers in the English Department as well as the librarians here at the school. They may well make the choice to print up a bunch of them to hand out, especially WISE MEN SEEK JESUS for Christmas. One by-product is that your efforts serve as an example of the possibility of the teachers - and the older students themselves - of becoming authors in the same way. We have computers and scanners and photocopiers, so it's just a matter of becoming authors and producers of our own materials. Thank you for that example."
A friend is helping us put together a power point presentation which we hope our Board members can use. Pray that God will challenge some to go out and represent Manna Publications as we continue to ask the Lord for a couple to take over the day-to-day operations. Fred now has some help sending Western Union transfers and a friend is helping him with his email list, but we need someone who will come in and lear about our overseas ministry.
Lorna is working with three artists. But their work is tied up for want of graphic artists, technical people who will put the drawings into computer and then into book form. Our son-in-law, Lynn Faulkner has agreed to try his hand at this. But first he needs to buy a new computer.
The enemy makes everything more difficult. All kinds of problems, mixed signals, the weak dollar and rising costs delay production of new titles here and overseas. Our distributors struggle with their own problems and shortages which we know little of.
On August 7 we lost Pastor Leonard Chibende who has served faithfully and very successfully for many years in Zambia. Please pray for Leonard's widow Emeldah and the children. She says she will carry on her husband's book ministry.
